Hearthfile Help

Hearthfile is a local appliance file for the details you need later: model numbers, serial numbers, manuals, receipts, warranty dates, filter sizes, service notes, reminders, and exportable handoff text.

Add An Appliance Or Fixture

Start with the few facts you have. A name and one useful detail are enough. You can add the room, make, model, serial number, purchase date, warranty date, notes, consumables, and service interval when they are available.

Hearthfile should treat missing optional fields as "not captured yet," not as a broken record.

Attach Documents And Photos

Use document and photo fields for files you already control, such as:

  • label photos
  • receipt photos or PDFs
  • manuals
  • installation photos
  • service receipts

If a file is missing later, keep the record and mark the document state clearly instead of hiding the problem.

Track Reminders And Consumables

Use reminders for service dates, warranty expirations, filters, batteries, bulbs, belts, and other recurring parts. A reminder date is still useful even when notification permission is not granted.

Use consumable fields to answer practical questions like which filter, cartridge, belt, or bulb to buy next time.

Export A Handoff Packet

Export is for practical household use: service calls, moving, selling, or sharing appliance facts with someone helping maintain the home. Exported records can include item facts, service notes, document state, consumables, and reminder dates.

Hearthfile export is not legal disclosure, warranty advice, insurance advice, repair instruction, or safety guidance.

Privacy And Local Storage

The V1 product boundary is local-first: no account, no ads, no backend, no automatic manual lookup, and no AI processing. Appliance records, serial numbers, photos, receipts, manuals, notes, and export contents should not leave the device unless you choose to export or share them.

What Hearthfile Does Not Do

Hearthfile does not manage renovation projects, home finances, insurance claims, contractors, smart-home devices, household chores, landlord workflows, AI repair advice, or broad property management.

Getting Help

Contact support if import, export, reminder, or document-reference behavior does not match what the app says. Do not send private appliance records, serial numbers, receipts, or documents unless support explicitly asks for a redacted example.

Is Hearthfile a home-management suite?

No. Hearthfile is an appliance and fixture record keeper. It is intentionally narrower than home-management apps that include finances, renovation projects, insurance claims, contractor sourcing, smart-home control, or multi-property dashboards.

Does Hearthfile require an account?

No for V1. The app is planned as local-first and accountless.

Does my appliance data leave my device?

Not in the V1 product boundary unless you choose to export or share it. Appliance records, serial numbers, photos, manuals, receipts, notes, and export contents should stay local.

Does Hearthfile automatically find manuals?

No. You can attach a manual file or save a manual link, but automatic manual lookup is out of scope for V1.

Does Hearthfile use AI to diagnose repairs?

No. Hearthfile stores records and reminders. It does not provide repair, safety, warranty-rights, insurance, legal, or code-compliance advice.

What happens if notification permission is denied?

The reminder date should still remain visible in the app. Denied notification permission means the app should not claim that a system notification will be delivered.

Can I export my records?

Yes. The planned V1 includes CSV and PDF-style handoff export surfaces. Export is for practical household reference, not legal disclosure or insurance claim filing.

Is Hearthfile a subscription?

The current manifest uses a paid-upfront price hypothesis of `$7.99` and no in-app purchase. That matches the local-first V1 boundary better than a recurring subscription.

What should I store in Hearthfile?

Useful examples include model numbers, serial numbers, purchase dates, warranty dates, receipt files, manual files or links, label photos, filter sizes, service dates, service notes, costs, providers, and replacement timing.

What should I avoid storing?

Avoid storing anything you would not want in a local home file. If you export records, review the packet before sharing it.
