What SpecPour Does

SpecPour helps you enter venue-owned ingredient costs, build cocktail recipes, calculate cost per pour, scale batches, review stale costs, and export staff-ready specs.

The app supplies the calculator. The venue supplies the facts.

First Spec

1. Add an ingredient with package size, package cost, unit, supplier note, and tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive setting. 2. Add a recipe and choose ingredients, amounts, method, glassware, garnish, prep notes, and batch size when needed. 3. Review the formula trace before trusting the result. 4. Choose your own target pour-cost percentage, rounding style, and final menu price. 5. Export the staff spec only after reviewing stale-cost warnings.

Locale And Unit Settings

SpecPour can format currency, decimal separators, and metric or U.S. unit defaults for your locale. These settings do not mean the app knows your local supplier costs, tax rules, deposits, service charges, or alcohol-pricing rules.

Cost Freshness

Ingredient costs are treated as user-entered facts. If an ingredient has not been reviewed recently, SpecPour can warn before export and show which recipes depend on that ingredient.

What SpecPour Does Not Do

SpecPour does not maintain local ingredient prices, distributor catalogs, tax/VAT rules, alcohol-pricing law, happy-hour compliance, POS data, ordering, inventory variance, or market price benchmarks.

Does SpecPour know my local ingredient prices?

No. Ingredient prices are venue-specific. You enter bottle/package costs, supplier notes, taxes or fees you want included, and the date those numbers were reviewed.

Does the app calculate a legally compliant menu price?

No. SpecPour shows deterministic math from your inputs. Your venue is responsible for local legal, tax, service-charge, promotion, and compliance judgment.

What does the app own?

SpecPour owns currency formatting, metric and U.S. unit defaults, tax field labels, language/localization, common ingredient and unit templates, deterministic conversion math, formula traces, and export formatting.

What does the venue own?

The venue owns bottle/package cost, supplier/vendor, tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive setting, sales tax or VAT assumptions, service-charge assumptions, target pour-cost percentage, menu price rounding style, final menu price, local legal/compliance judgment, and promo or happy-hour treatment.

Why does SpecPour avoid live vendor pricing?

Live vendor pricing would turn the app into a data and integration product with higher cost, higher support burden, and more liability. The V1 is intentionally a local calculator and staff spec tool.

Can I export staff specs?

Yes. The planned V1 includes staff-facing specs with recipe, method, glassware, garnish, prep notes, batch information, cost snapshot, and stale-cost warnings.

Is my data synced?

No for V1. The build candidate is local-first with no account, backend, global ingredient database, or cloud sync requirement.
